R.B. KITAJ
LOTS 16-18

R.B. Kitaj (American, 1932–2007) spent most of his working life in London. In the late 1960s, Marlborough Gallery published a set of 50 silkscreens created by Kitaj entitled In Our Time: Covers for a Small Library after the Life for the Most Part, which drew on books in his own library. These silkscreens were masterfully printed and have been sought after by collectors for over 50 years. In 1981, he had a major retrospective at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. and then at the Tate Gallery, London in 1994. His work can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, NY; Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; Los Angeles County Museum; and many more.
