RIMMA GERLOVINA &
VALERIY GERLOVIN
LOTS 6-7

Rimma Gerlovina (Russian, b. 1951) and Valeriy Gerlovin (Russian, b. 1945) photograph their bodies and faces marked with words and symbols to create their “still performances,” also known as “photoglyphs.” Their body decoration provides a direct form of expression and becomes a literal “figure of speech.” The Gerlovins’ work can be found in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; International Center of Photography, New York; Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles, and many others.
